Rocking Horse Winner is a story about greed and love. Paul, young adult with developmental challenges, tries to connect with his emotionally distant mother, Ava. He finds himself able to predict the winner of horse races through riding his own rocking horse, and obsessively tries to solve his family's "bad luck" and make his mother happy using this mysterious power. Ava, his Uncle Oscar, and his care aide, Basset, only seem to care about the riches Paul earns through his power, and disregard Paul's wellbeing in the pursuit of more and more.

I was incredibly honoured to gather costume pieces from internationally acclaimed Calgary Fashion Designer, Kate Hewko, who partnered with Ammolite Opera for this show. I incorperated some of Kate Hewko's pieces into my original renderings.
